Meet The Categories: London & Manchester
This week, the Sport Industry Group team hosted two Meet the Categories events in London and Manchester.
With the first event held at the Ear to the Ground’s offices in Manchester on Tuesday 8th October, followed by a repeat event at SIG’s offices in central London the next day, the industry meet-ups served as a chance for organisations across the industry to learn about the changes to this year’s FEVO Sport Industry Awards.

As well as the introduction of new categories – Hospitality & Experience Award, Media & Broadcast Award, and Talent Campaign of the Year – there have also been some name changes and mergers to existing categories.
SIG Managing Director, Dylan Pugh, also introduced the brand-new Pre-Awards Show, five awards designed to shine a light on corners of the industry that the Awards have not championed before. These will be awarded prior to the main show during an intimate and exclusive ceremony in the VIP area at Evolution London.
In London, FEVO Sport Industry Awards 2024 Judge Amar Singh (MKTG Sport + Entertainment SVP Content & Communications) and Sean Jefferson (SportValue Ltd Owner) joined Dylan to offer advice on how to submit a winning entry.

“You are telling a story, so you want to creative a compelling narrative. It is easy to delegate this to somebody junior but if you should utilise the creative skills from across your whole business.“
“Evidence is so crucial. Judges are looking through so many entries they want to be able to quickly identify your successes.“
“Is the product or function of the brand at the centre of what you do? That should be clear.”

“Relevant video can be key. Judges see a lot of generic videos with match footage, for example, and these just do not link to the campaign directly. Even a rough and ready interview on a phone with a key player from campaign is better than high-production value fluff.”
