UON SPORT ORIGINALS

Targeted at delivering relatable and inspiring content to underrepresented groups, University of Nottingham Sport’s Originals series is an integral part of our strategy to raise the profile of our offer and break down perceived barriers to participation.

Unique within the Higher Education sport sector, the series included 13 different stories – all unscripted – featuring students from our Black and disabled communities. Themed under Black Student Spotlight, Mullet Over and Student Stories, topics addressed included race, disability and mental health, with all showcasing the positive impact of sport and fitness upon each individual.

Delivered to the highest quality of production with the support of exciting up and coming agencies from our region, UoN Sport Originals amassed over half a million views over 12 months.

The series drove 75% more web traffic to programmes engaging with this audience; contributing towards an 11% increase in engagement from disabled students and 64% amongst Black students.
