Last night, the Sport Industry Socials Euro Watch Party took place at Brixton Jamm for the England vs Denmark game.
Sport Industry Socials is a series of events that focuses on trending topics within the industry and provides opportunities for people working in sport to simultaneously expand their knowledge and network.
With Euro fever in full swing, Sport Industry Partners, Members, NextGen Leaders and special guests were all invited to the outdoor venue to watch Southgate’s men take on Denmark in their second group match of the tournament.
To warm up an expectant crowd, guests were treated to an arcade game from Piing which got everybody jumping off their seats before the Three Lions had even kicked a ball.
Before the action got underway, we were joined by former Premier League striker Glenn Murray to discuss England’s current form, the match ahead, and his overall thoughts on the tournament.
Hosted by sports presenter Sirayah Shiraz, questions were then opened to the floor, with Murray asked which England player he would have most liked to play with, why he scored so many goals against West Ham throughout his career, and who he really preferred between two of his former clubs and bitter rivals – Crystal Palace and Brighton.
To the delight of a packed Brixton Jamm, England started the match well and grabbed the lead through captain Harry Kane, triggering a chorus of cheers under the June sunshine.
However, the joy was short-lived as it wasn’t too long until Denmark equalised through Hjulmand, who beat Jordan Pickford with a pinpoint long-range effort.
An uninspiring second-half performance from England may have ended in a disappointing draw for Southgate’s side, but it failed to dampen the mood inside Brixton Jamm. With the sun still out and the drinks still flowing, guests managed to brush off the result and enjoy the rest of the night.
Access to Sport Industry Socials is exclusive to Sport Industry Members. Sport Industry Members are able to attend SIG events, enjoy discounts to attend the FEVO Sport Industry Awards and receive free award entries every year. Find out more here.
