BRITISH TRIATHLON LEADS THE WAY
“British Triathlon is proud to be a champion of women and girls at all levels and in all areas of our sport. #AccelerateAction as a theme is one we have definitely taken on board this International Women’s Day as we’ve combined telling the stories of women and girls in our sport with action. We have used this year to celebrate what we’re doing well but also recognise where we can be better at encouraging more women and girls into sports.
“This past week, we have been spotlighting women in all areas of our sport, from coaches to event organisers and current and former athletes, to tell the story of how triathlon is a sport that is welcoming to females and enables them to thrive.
“Triathlon’s roots are founded in equality. Women and men have always raced over the same distances and received the same prize money and exposure. We are also proud that nearly three quarters of the senior leaders and board members across British Triathlon are female, and 71% of British Triathlon’s Executive Team are women.”
