IPL side the Rajasthan Royals have announced a new partnership with Indian brand Niine in a deal which will see the pair work together to promote safe menstrual hygiene practices in the country.
The Niine logo will appear on the back of the Royals shirt from the start of the new IPL campaign, which will be held in the UAE from 19th September to 10th November due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“It’s time to make a real change,” said Ranjit Barthakur, Executive Chairman, Rajasthan Royals. “We are delighted to welcome Niine on board who have been front-runners in making a change in the way menstruation is perceived in the society.”
“The synergy between the two organisations to work on women empowerment is something we are excited about. Their work towards protecting the environment through safe disposal, with their products has been remarkable and is again something that we’re proud to be associated with.”
Amar Tulsiyan Founder and Chairman, Niine Hygiene and Personal Care, added: “Rajasthan Royals are known for their affinity with social causes, and share a common vision of empowering women to strengthen India further. We are very excited at this partnership and look forward to a strong season of innings and knock out menstrual shackles from the lives of our girls and women, together.”
“We also believe IPL is a powerful platform that reaches out to millions and millions of men and women in our country and internationally, and can be a catalyst in doing away with embarrassment faced by many when it comes to sanitary napkins or in talks about periods.”
The IPL season was due to start on 29th March, but was suspended indefinitely at the start of the coronavirus outbreak, before being rearranged for September. It will be played out in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah instead.
