Christmas is just around the corner and that means the darts is here! There was a shock as Fallon Sherrock suffered a defeat and a scare for Michael Smith who recovered from a shaky start. We’ve looked back at the weekend’s highlights…

Michael Smith produced a brilliant fightback to kick off his defence of the Paddy Power World Darts Championship title on a thrilling opening night at London’s Alexandra Palace.
Reigning champion Smith turned on the style in the closing stages to book his place in round three, after recovering from 2-1 down in sets to deny Dutch debutant Kevin Doets in a high-quality contest.
Smith was recently unveiled as the face of Paddy Power’s new The BIG 180 campaign.
Fallon Sherrock fell at the first hurdle at the 2024 PDC World Championship as she was knocked out by Dutchman Jermaine Wattimena.
Sherrock, 29, was beaten 3-1 in round one despite taking the first set in front of a raucous crowd.
Wattimena missed match darts to allow Sherrock an opening, but the Englishwoman failed to capitalise and could not force a deciding set.
The 35-year-old Wattimena will face Germany’s Martin Schindler next.

Manchester United secured a surprise 0-0 draw against Liverpool at Anfield to ease pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.
In a game that lacked excitement, United stopped the rot that had been spreading after the heavy home loss to Bournemouth and a Champions League exit at Old Trafford.
Diogo Dalot was sent off in the final minutes of the game but United held on against an uninspired Liverpool.

Liverpool’s home draw followed Arsenal’s 2-0 home victory over Brighton on Sunday.
A dominant performance from the Gunners saw goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz lift Mikel Arteta’s side to the top of the Premier League.
With one point separating Arsenal and Liverpool at the top of the table all eyes will be on Anfield next weekend when the sides face off.
Earlier in the month, Arsenal FC announced ZC Rubber as the official global tyre partner of the club.
Harlequins were outclassed by French champions Toulouse as they conceded seven tries in a 47-19 Investec Champions Cup thrashing at the Stoop.
Toulouse scored three clinical first-half tries, but Quins kept themselves in the game with tries from Andre Esterhuizen and Irne Herbst.
However, four more Toulouse tries followed in the second half as Antoine Dupont’s side ran Quins ragged.
Herbst scored the home side’s only try of a disappointing second half.
In October, Harlequins announced a partnership with Conrad Energy.
