Adidas has enlisted football legends Alessandro Del Piero, Rio Ferdinand, Zinedine Zidane, Patrick Vieira and Bastian Schweinsteiger to launch the third kits for five of its biggest clubs.
The new kits for Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid all feature the return of the classic Adidas ‘trefoil’ motif to mark the 75th anniversary of the German sportswear brand, which was founded 18th August 1949.

Regarding the multi-club kit launch, Sam Handy, Vice President Product and Design at adidas Football, said, “Football and fashion currently co-exist in a proximity that has never been seen before.
“Our adidas trefoil logo stands for sporting elegance, authentic style and, for many fans, the collective memory of football. As we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the brand, it’s the perfect time to further mesh these two worlds and bring the trefoil onto the pitch.
“It was important for us to extent the legacy of the trefoil by creating new fashionable icons. Third jerseys allow our team to collaborate with the clubs to dig deep into their history and modern culture for new inspiration, and they are often worn by fans as a fashion statement away from the stadium environment.
“We designed these new kits with one simple mantra in our mind – beautiful kits for the beautiful game.”
In addition to Adidas’ viral digital activation – the hero launch image has already racked up 2.5 million likes on Instagram in less than 24 hours – each club has taken a unique approach on its own channels.

Arsenal has enlisted the help of actor Will Poulter, star of science fiction film trilogy The Maze Runner, in its launch film.
On the club’s website they said the new kit ‘celebrates the evolution of originality; from the players to the club’s culture and broad community of supporters.
A constant process of re-invention, the third shirt uses the past as a foundation to re-shape the future.’
Last month, the north London club revealed its new away kit in collaboration with British African heritage brand Labrum London.
Juventus
According to Juventus, the Serie A club’s new look ‘continues this season’s celestial theme for its uniform’ with ‘the reflection of the moon in the starry skies’ serving as an inspiration for its design.
Apparently, ‘The uniform stands out for its sophisticated night colour palette in navy blue shades with refined golden details and a tonal pattern throughout the jersey, which features an elegant polo collar and is adorned with golden ‘Juventus’ lettering on the back of the collar. This journey not only covers space, but time—in this kit, the golden silhouette of the Juventus zebra replaces the current Juventus logo, giving it a feeling that recalls the 1980s.
That is not all: the third chapter of our journey through space harkens to eternity, with an infinity monogram created from the club’s coat of arms, an iconic design that serves as a nod to football fans and those interested in the lifestyle the clothing represents. Speaking of time travel, adidas is announcing, as it reveals the third kits of its five major European clubs, the return of the iconic shamrock to the pitch.’

Bayern Munich
In contrast to Juventus, the most successful club in German football was straight to the point in describing its new shirt.
In fact, on the Adidas, apparently only three words were needed, ‘Modern, classic, elegant’.
The club also released a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the combined Adidas kit launches starring Bastian Schweinsteiger. The midfield spent 17 seasons at Bayern Munich, playing in exactly 500 matches across all competitions and scoring 68 goals

Manchester United, whose shirt deal with Adidas is worth a minimum of £900m over a ten-year period, went with an understated launch that featured plenty of players from both the men’s and women’s teams – including Bruno Fernandes, Ella Toone, Alejandro Garnacho and Maya Le Tissier – and put the new white third strip front and centre.
The new jersey, which has seemingly been well received by the club’s fanbase, ‘comes in a casual straight hem shape, setting it apart from the home and away shirts’ sporty elongated hem. The look is completed with a woven-base Trefoil authentic label and flatknit collar and cuffs.
The flag also appears on the back of the neck – beneath a seasonal crew-neck collar – with the words ‘Manchester United’.

Finally, similar to United, the reigning Champions League title holders chose to hero the shirt and its star-studded roster of players – including Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham and new signing Kylian Mbappé.
Despite being arguably the best player in the world, the French striker joined the La Liga champions on a free. Real Mardid, however will still be paying the player an annual salary thought to be in the region of €30m (£26.3m.
