Manchester United has extended its partnership with adidas until June 2025, making it the most valuable kit deal in Premier League history.

The club has stated that the new extension has a minimum ‘cash guarantee of £900m, subject to certain adjustments.’

United’s previous deal with the German kit manufacturer was a 10-year agreement worth £750m. That deal was signed at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, and saw the two organisations reunite after 23 years.

The renewal will also see adidas remain as the kit supplier for the Manchester United Women’s team.

A major factor in the finances of the deal is the club’s participation in the Champions League, Europe’s premier football competition. As specified by the new deal, failure to play in the Champions League for two consecutive seasons would reduce its annual payment by 30%.

Richard Arnold, Chief Executive Officer at Manchester United, said, “The relationship between Manchester United and adidas is one of the most iconic in world sport, forged through a shared commitment to style, flair and, most importantly, high performance.

“With its roots in the 1980s, our partnership has been reinvented over the past decade with some of the most innovative designs and technology in sportswear. We are now looking forward to refreshing this powerful partnership again through the remainder of this decade and into the 2030s.”

Bjorn Gulden, Chief Executive Officer at adidas, added, “We are extremely proud to announce the extension of the contract with Manchester United. adidas and Manchester United are two of the most important brands in international football and it is very natural for us to continue our cooperation. We will combine tradition and innovation to please both the players and the fans.

“We look forward to continuing our partnership with one of the most iconic clubs in football!”

Earlier this month the Red Devils agreed a first-of-its kind partnership with Estée Lauder.
