The British and Irish Lions are considering adding a US match to their 2029 tour of New Zealand, according to multiple UK media reports.

The Lions are reportedly eyeing Las Vegas as a potential destination, while Los Angeles and Chicago are also being evaluated.

If confirmed, this would mark the Lions’ first ever game in the US.

Although the prospective fixture would not be against the New Zealand All Blacks, the Lions could alternatively face the US men’s national team, or the Maori All Blacks.

Should the Lions play a US game as part of the New Zealand tour, this would come two years out from the 2031 Rugby World Cup, which will be hosted in the country for the first time.

Las Vegas has never previously hosted an international rugby union match. However, Australia’s elite men’s rugby league division, the NRL, staged a two-match series in the Nevada city in March this year.

The NRL will return to Sin City in March next year, as part of the ‘Rugby League Las Vegas Festival 2025′, which will see the UK’s Super League head to Nevada for the first time.
