Former Havas global CMO Rachel Conlan has joined CAA Sports in London, it has been announced.

The experienced marketer’s move forms part of an accelerated growth strategy, as CAA Sports seeks to reinforce its presence in the UK market. It follows the agency’s acquisition of brandrapport in early 2016.

Conlan’s new role will see her work closely with colleagues in CAA Sports’ Property Sales, Brand Consulting, and Athlete Representation groups, helping to create brand and business-building opportunities for the agency’s clients.

Commenting on the appointment, Paul Danforth, global head of sales, CAA Sports, said: “Rachel is a remarkably accomplished global marketing executive, whose expertise, experience, and strategic insights will bring a unique perspective to our team, and play an integral role in the continued growth of CAA Sports within the global sports landscape.

“As part of CAA Sports’ accelerated growth strategy, which aims to replicate our domestic U.S. success overseas, we have broadened the agency’s reach and resources across the U.K., Europe, and Asia through strategic hires, complementary acquisitions, and the establishment of key offices.”

Conlan was previously global chief marketing operations officer for Havas, the world’s sixth largest communications company, and part of the Vivendi family of companies.

Her role at Havas included responsibility for establishing the global brand reputation, driving revenues and identifying strategic opportunities for global brands within the Havas agency networks and key Vivendi properties.

It followed a series of other high-profile positions within the Havas group, including as MD of Havas LuxHub – a strategic consultancy focused on the luxury, fashion and lifestyle sectors – and also as group global growth director, in charge of new business development. In 2012, Conlan was part of the leadership team that drove the global rebrand of Euro RSCG Worldwide to Havas Worldwide.
