British multi-national transport group First Bus has signed as a club partner of newly promoted Ipswich Town FC.
Under terms of the new multi-year agreement, First Bus will offer fans free Park & Ride travel to and from selected home games at Ipswich’s 29,673-capacity Portman Road stadium when the club competes in the Premier League next season.
Additionally, First Bus will become a ‘Friend of the Foundation’, supporting the work of the Ipswich Town Foundation in the community.
Ipswich’s promotion to the top tier of the English football league pyramid was confirmed last Saturday (4th May) with a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield in the Championship, and follows a further promotion from EFL League One during the 2022/23 football season.
Piers Marlow, Managing Director of First Bus East of England, said, “We are delighted to be partnering with Ipswich Town, particularly at such an exciting time for the club.
“First Bus has been an important part of the Ipswich and wider Suffolk community for many years. We hope that our partnership with Ipswich Town will allow us to reach a wider audience and encourage more people to choose public transport or park and ride as their preferred method of travel, especially on match days.”
Town’s Commercial Director, Andy Wooldridge, added, “We’re delighted to be able to welcome such a recognisable, national, company in First Bus as our newest club partner.
“Given the stadium’s location in the town centre, to be able to partner with First Bus to make it easier for supporters to get to Portman Road brings huge positives for both the Club and the town.
“We thank First Bus for their support and investment into this partnership. We are looking forward to the partnership growing over the coming years.”
Last week, Ipswich extended its training kit partnership with Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) until the end of the 2026/27 season.
