Jude Bellingham has been revealed as the cover star for EA SPORTS FC 25, which will release on 27th September 2024.
The cover image for the standard edition of the video game – which sees the player in his iconic arms-open-wide pose – was captured El Clásico in April after Bellingham scored an extra time winner.
The Real Madrid and England midfielder becomes the youngest athlete to appear as a global cover star for the video game franchise, however, Bellingham did feature on the cover of EA Sports FC 24, albeit alongside 31 other stars from the men’s and women’s game.
The EA Sports announcement is the latest in a period of heightened commercial activity for Bellingham. Ahead of Euro 2024, he was revealed as the new face of Kim Kardashian’s clothing brand Skims, while in May he penned a new multi-year brand ambassador role with UK drinks brand Lucozade. He also holds an existing multi-million pound deal with luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton.
Yesterday (17th July) EA Sports launched the trailer of the game as a YouTube Premier. The video reveal for the highly anticipated game has already achieved nearly four million views.
“I played this game with my brother all the time growing up, and I’ve always thought about how incredible it would be to one day be featured on the cover,” said Bellingham. “There have been so many iconic players on the cover over the years, and I am delighted to be the most recent English player to be bestowed with this honour since 2011. I’m also truly honoured to be featured on the cover of Ultimate Edition with true legends of the game both past and present in Beckham, Bonmatí, Buffon and Zidane.”
EA Sports FC is the second offering in EA Sports’ own brand series following the company’s acrimonious split from FIFA.
For three decades, FIFA and EA Sports collaborated on the best-selling sports video game franchise of all time, but that relationship soured in 2021 when football’s governing body reportedly asked the game developer for one billion dollars to extend the license for the FIFA name.
