Liverpool To Swap Nike For Adidas

Liverpool FC has reportedly penned a five-year kit supplier partnership that will see Adidas replace Nike from the 2025/26 season, according to SportBusiness.

The report says the deal is worth more than the current Nike contract, which is valued at £50m annually. That figure comprises the £30m paid by the Oregon-based sportswear giant, as well as royalty payments on Liverpool shirt sales.

Despite the reported uptick in value, the agreement is not believed to be in the same region as Adidas’ £90m a year partnership with rivals Manchester United. Signed in July last year, the company’s deal with the Red Devils is reportedly worth £900m over ten years until 2035, making it the most lucrative in Premier League history.

SportBusiness reports that the German sportswear giant pipped Puma and incumbent kit partner Nike to win Liverpool’s next supplier deal.

After previously serving as the Reds’ supplier between 2006 and 2012, Adidas will take over from Nike. The US brand has produced the team’s kits since winning a court case to replace New Balance in 2020.

Adidas is expanding its foothold across the Premier League, having secured the rights to produce Newcastle United kits from next season. According to UK media reports, the ‘Three Stripes’ brand has also inked a supplier deal with Aston Villa, which will take effect from 2024/25.
