The Sports Podcast Group has partnered with podcast platform Acast to launch the Acast Independent Zone at Pod Live, the UK’s first sports podcast festival.

Taking place from 8th to 12th February at Kings Place in London, Pod Live is the UK’s first sports podcast festival. The four-day event will see some of the biggest names in sports podcasting take to the stage to record live episodes in front of hundreds of fans.

As well as showcasing some of the biggest acts on the podcast scene, the Sports Podcast Group has now revealed plans for how it will support and celebrate the smaller, independent podcasts.

As part of the Sports Podcast Group’s dedication to boosting discoverability across the medium, it has booked studio time at nearby Spiritland, a unique late night bar and restaurant which features two professional recording studios.

On Sunday 12th February 2023, independents and creators from diverse backgrounds will be given the opportunity to produce an episode of their podcast in a professional setting.

The Sports Podcast Group is now welcoming independent sport podcasters to express interest in recording at Spiritland by contacting hello@sportspodcastawards.com.

On announcing Pod Live, Sports Podcast Group Managing Director, Dylan Pugh, said, “Our aim as a business is to serve a central hub for the sports podcast community and boost discoverability for creators. After the breakout success of the inaugural Sports Podcast Awards, putting on a live festival of sports podcasts felt like a natural progression.

“As well as putting together an incredible lineup of podcasts, I’m really excited that through our work with Acast and Spiritland we’ll be able to give smaller independents the chance to record in a professional studio.”

Josh Woodhouse, Acast Regional Managing Director – UK & Ireland, added, “We’re delighted to be partnering with the Sports Podcast Group on the inaugural Pod Live festival. Our ambition at Acast is to arm podcasters with the tools they need to succeed in an exciting new entertainment space so we’re thrilled to be able to give some of the UK’s best independent sports podcasts the opportunity to record in a professional studio setup through the Acast Independent Zone.”
