The Sports Podcast Group, organisers of the annual Sports Podcast Awards, have announced the launch of a new events series, Pod Live.
The inaugural festival, Pod Live Sport, will take place from 6th to 12th February and features some of the world’s best sports podcasts, including The Socially Distant Sports Bar, The Race F1 Podcast, BBC’s Fighting Talk and the Sports Podcast of the Year 2022, Morning Kombat.
Additional acts are set to be revealed in the coming weeks.
Edd Straw, Host of The Race F1 Podcast, said, “We’re delighted to be bringing our podcast in front of a live audience at Pod Live. This will be our first live event and we’re looking forward to appearing alongside other great sports podcasts and giving our loyal audience a great live experience.”
Tickets for all acts playing at the festival will go on sale from 11th November, however, fans are also encouraged to become a member of the Sports Podcast Group community and be the first to know when ticket drops to new acts come online.
All Pod Live Sport shows will take place at Kings Place, London, with additional exclusive events and experiences for Pod Live attendees happening in the surrounding Kings Cross area.
Listeners interested in attending Pod Live Sport can visit www.pod-live.com for the most up-to-date line-up or stay tuned to @SportsPodGroup social media channels for regular announcements.
As well as bringing together some of the biggest acts on the sports podcast scene, The Sports Podcast Group is committed to boosting discoverability for podcasts of all sizes.
On 11th and 12th February, in a new partnership with independent podcast growth and monetisation specialists Acast, the Sports Podcast Group will be booking studio time at Spiritland to enable independents and creators from diverse backgrounds to record and produce an episode of their podcast in a professional setting.
Details on how podcasters can access a recording session will be released in the coming weeks.
On announcing Pod Live Sport, Sports Podcast Group Managing Director, Dylan Pugh, said, “Our aim as a business is to server a central hub for the sports podcast community and boost discoverability for creators. After the breakout success of the inaugural Sports Podcast Awards, putting on a live festival of sports podcasts felt like a natural progression.
“As well as putting together an incredible lineup of podcasts, I’m really excited that through our work with Acast and Spiritland we’ll be able to give smaller independents the chance to record in a professional studio.”
Josh Woodhouse, Acast Regional Managing Director – UK & Ireland, added, “We’re delighted to be partnering with the Sports Podcast Group on the inaugural Pod Live festival. Our ambition at Acast is to arm podcasters with the tools they need to succeed in an exciting new entertainment space so we’re thrilled to be able to give some of the UK’s best independent sports podcasts the opportunity to record in a professional studio setup through the Acast Independent Zone.”
