SailGP saw its broadcast viewership reach 293 million for its fourth season, marking a 48% increase on last year.
The international sailing league saw a significant uptick in US viewership over the last campaign. The Spain Sail Grand Prix, which took place in October 2023, became the most-watched sailing event in the US for 30 years, when 1.78 million viewers tuned in to watch the event on CBS.
Over the last year, SailGP has also bolstered its presence across social media, generating 1.4 billion views across all channels, marking a five-fold increase.

The sustainability-oriented league’s cumulative social media following has risen from 1.55 million at the end of the third season to 3.45 million at the time of writing.
On YouTube, SailGP’s audience surged from 37 million to 157 million viewers between seasons 3 and 4. The London-headquartered league has also eclipsed 545,000 followers on TikTok, which serves as its fastest growing platform.
SailGP has also continued to take strides on the sustainability front in its fourth season. Ten of the series’ 13 events were entirely powered by clean energy. The Spain GP event became the first to run on 100% clean energy that was supplied from sustainable fuel on water.
In terms of inclusivity, the league saw a 42% increase in female athlete participation last season. SailGP launched its Women’s Accelerator Programme earlier this year, in collaboration with Apex Group, in order to drive female representation in senior management positions.

SailGP’s Inspire youth initiative, which launched during its inaugural season in 2021, has had 22,312 since its inception, after 7,647 young people joined the programme in its fourth year.
Next season, as announced earlier this month, SailGP will be adding three new destinations to its calendar in Brazil, Germany Switzerland and Auckland.
A new Brazil team will join the series as its 11th team for season five, which will commence on 23rd November at the Dubai Sail Grand Prix.
