The inaugural Sport Industry NextGen Leaders continued their Leadership Package by visiting Loughborough University London’s distinctive new development on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the Institute for Sport Business.
Throughout an afternoon session on site at Here East, the Sport Industry NextGen Leaders took part in an Executive Leadership Workshop, offering the group an opportunity to explore their own leadership philosophy, whilst equipping them with strategies to make informed and ambitious choices throughout their careers.
Joined by influential voices throughout sport – including Steve Swanson, the faculty’s director of sport leadership; Sam Whale (pictured below), managing director at Unforgiving Minute; Chris Grant, CEO of Sported; and James Skinner, director: Institute for Sport Business, Loughborough University London – the group worked alongside speakers and mentors to explore both the challenges and opportunities facing sports leaders of the future.
James Skinner, who is also a Sport Industry NextGen Judge, was particularly impressed by the group’s development throughout the Leadership Package.
“I think we’re looking at the next generation of leaders. They are constantly evolving and developing,” commented Skinner.
“If the leadership of sport is going to be in the hands of these young people I think moving forward sport is in a very good place.”
