UK Sport has announced plans to invest a record £330m into Olympic and Paralympic sports for the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
The funding from the UK Government and National Lottery will benefit more than 50 sports in total in the buildup to the next edition of the Olympics.
Among them are five new sports – baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse, Para climbing and squash – which will collectively receive £3m in total funding.
UK Sport has also allocated an additional £1.55m towards British Basketball over the next cycle to help invest in the 3×3 discipline.
In October, the UK Government revealed a 10% increase in funding for Los Angeles 2028, resulting an additional £9m per year.

Team GB secured 65 medals at last summer’s Paris 2024 Olympic Games, including 14 gold, 22 silver, and 29 bronze.
At this year’s Paralympic Games, ParalympicsGB brought home 124 medals, with the figure of 49 gold eclipsing the team’s tally from Tokyo 2020.
“It’s thanks to the unwavering support of the UK Government and our wonderful National Lottery players that we are able to announce this historic investment today, towards continuing to create the greatest decade of extraordinary sporting moments,” said Sally Munday, CEO of UK Sport.
Dr Kate Baker, Director of Performance and People at UK Sport, added, “Following the spectacular performances of Team GB and ParalympicsGB in Paris this summer, it’s so important for us to be able to keep the momentum going as we head into the LA cycle.
“This is our greatest investment to date, with more sports set to embark on an Olympic and Paralympic campaign with us than ever before.
“With our investment supporting more breadth than ever before, as well as the entertainment, drama and spectacle we’ll no doubt experience from a Games taking place in LA, I can’t wait to see what our athletes can achieve in four years’ time.”
