Worcester Warriors have presented plans for the redevelopment of Sixways Stadium and the surrounding area.

The proposal aims to expand the stadium’s capacity, and create new facilities for sport, entertainment, and community wellbeing, while also boosting the local economy.

Last month, Worcester Warriors formally submitted their application to the Rugby Football Union (RFU) to join the newly established Tier 2 league for the 2025/26 season. The redevelopment of Sixways forms a key part of the club’s vision to support this new chapter.

Worcester plan to raise the stadium’s capacity from 11,500 to 12,750 through the redevelopment of the North Stand, which will also feature enhanced fan facilities.

The proposal additionally outlines a medical and sports rehabilitation centre, a multifunctional events space, and an on-site hotel to attract visitors and promote tourism.

The club’s owners Junction 6 Limited also intend to introduce a national esports centre and create adaptable industrial spaces to attract businesses to the area, generating new employment opportunities across hospitality, healthcare, and events.

Transport improvements are a key aspect of the project, with plans for a multi-storey car park, better cycle links, and a potential reintroduction of shuttle bus services connecting Sixways to the city centre and rail station on matchdays.

Public consultation on the proposals is now underway. Residents and fans have been invited to attend a consultation event on 10th December at the East Stand, Sixways Stadium. Details of the redevelopment will also be available online from 2 December, with an opportunity to provide feedback through a digital survey.

The feedback will inform a planning application to Wychavon District Council, which Junction 6 Limited expects to submit in December 2024.
