The Women’s Super League (WSL) has named YouTube as its new match streaming platform from the start of the 2024/25 season.

The social video platform replaces FA Player, and will air matches not selected for broadcast on Sky Sports or BBC, the elite tier of English women’s football revealed, while announcing its fixture schedule for the upcoming campaign.

Coverage of the matches will be available on the Barclays WSL YouTube channel, with the  Barclays WC YouTube channel also set to air select fixtures from the Women’s Championship second tier division.

Chelsea celebrate a fourth successive WSL title after the 2022/23 season.

Highlights and programming content will also be available on both channels.

As revealed earlier this year, Sky will air up to 44 WSL matches next season, with BBC will show a minimum of 22 fixtures, through the league’s recent renewals with the pay-TV provider and public service broadcaster.

Meanwhile, FA Player will continue to provide live coverage of the Women’s FA Cup domestic knockout cup competition.

From next season, which kicks off on 7th September, the WSL and Women’s Championship will be governed by NewCo, the new body which will preside over the two divisions, following their split with the FA.

NewCo CEO, Nikki Doucet, said, “We have so many incredibly competitive fixtures across both our leagues, which will no doubt excite fans and players alike.

“It is also a landmark moment for us with our transition to YouTube as our streaming service.

“Coupled with the high-quality coverage provided by our broadcast partners Sky Sports and the BBC, watching the women’s professional game here in the UK has never been easier.

“As we continue our journey into the NewCo, YouTube will offer even more supporters, both current and future, the opportunity to enjoy our amazing leagues at a click of a button.”
