BP global director of brand Duncan Blake is to join International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President Andrew Parsons at the third event in the Sport Industry Breakfast Club 2018 series.
The news comes with three weeks to go to the 13th September session, one of four quarterly events, which will take place at the BT Centre in London.
Blake will join Parsons to discuss the evolution of parasport as a commercial proposition, at a time when purpose-driven brand marketing is on the rise.
The globally-respected marketer – a BP staffer for 29 years – has overseen a shift in the brand’s sponsorship strategy towards parasport over recent years.
BP is an International Paralympic Partner – one of two non-IOC sponsors with worldwide rights to the Paralympic Games alone.
The global energy giant also made headlines last year when it refocused its long-term commitment to the United States Olympic Committee in favour of six unprecedented partnerships with US Paralympic teams.
September’s Sport Industry Breakfast Club session will take place against the backdrop of a new worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Games marketing programme, following a move by the IOC to negotiate joint rights packages ahead of a series of TOP programme renewals.
The event will also coincide with the one-year anniversary of Parsons’ election as the first new IPC President in 16 years.
The Brazilian has replaced Britain’s Sir Philip Craven as the most powerful person in world parasport.
The Sport Industry Breakfast Club is the industry’s number one networking event series with four content-led networking breakfasts over the course of the year. Each event welcomes up to 200 guests from across the industry for an interview with a panel of leading figures from the world of sport and business.
