Barcelona have revealed Coldplay as the latest music artist to feature on the club’s shirts, through the Spanish football giants’ partnership with Spotify.

The British band’s logo, inspired by their latest album ‘Moon Music’, will appear on shirts worn during the men’s team’s El Clasico game against Real Madrid on 26th October, and by the women’s side during their fixture against Eibar  on 2nd November.

Coldplay are the latest artist to feature on the Blaugrana’s kit, following the likes of the Rolling Stones and Drake.

Barcelona revealed Spotify as the club’s main partner in 2022, after signing a four-year reported €280m (£233.8m) deal that included principal shirt sponsorship, as well as naming rights to their iconic Camp Nou home.

1,899 limited edition Coldplay-themed jerseys will be available for purchase form 18th October. The LaLiga club will also release a collection of 22 glow-in-the-dark shirts, which will be signed from players from both the men’s and women’s teams.

All proceeds from the shirt sales will go towards the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), through the organisation’s partnership with the club, which started in 2022.

Coldplay’s ‘Viva la Vida’ is popular among Barcelona supporters, particularly due to its prevalence during the 2008/09 season, during which the club became the first Spanish team to win the treble.

The band are also the most streamed British group on the Swedish audio streaming platform.

“We’re honoured that Spotify has chosen to feature our Moon Music design on the shirt of FC Barcelona,” Coldplay said.

“We’ve had a special relationship with the city and the club for many years.  We’re also proud to support the UNHCR in their life-saving work to protect refugees and displaced people around the world.”

Marc Hazan, Vice President of Partnerships and Marketing at Spotify, added, “Coldplay is one of the most beloved bands in the world on Spotify, and their storied connection to Barça runs deep. We are thrilled to celebrate that history with fans worldwide through the iconic Barça jersey.”
