Vodafone Shows Off 5g With Var Alternative

Vodafone has revolutionised the Isles of Scilly Football League – the world’s smallest league – with a ‘Fan Assistant Referee’ (FAR) aimed at showing off its 5G network.

The league has just two teams who play each other multiple times over the course of the season, and Vodafone launched the FAR initiative to allow fans to have their say on the game’s big calls.

The initiative showed off the speed of the new 5G network, which allowed fans to engage with the live game in real time, making decisions such as awarding a penalty.
