Our objective is to make London Stadium one of the world’s greenest sports venues, whilst supporting the delivery of the Mayor’s net zero carbon commitments by 2030.

With a need for bold and innovative solutions, in July 2025, we unveiled Europe’s largest stadium roof solar panel project. All events hosted at the iconic Olympic venue will be powered by the 3,350 panels integrated into the roof, spanning 6,500 square metres. An estimated 850,000 kWh will be generated annually, resulting in a projected 10% cut in electricity costs and an offset of over 200 tonnes of carbon emissions – equivalent to 100 London to New York flights.

In 5 months, the panels have generated over 200,000 kWh, enough to power six Premier League fixtures.

Additional sustainability upgrades in 24/25 include LED lighting and smart power-saving devices. These measures, supported by a staff awareness campaign, have reduced energy use by 1.9m kWh.
