EA Sports, a division of US game developer Electronic Arts, has announced deals with British football clubs Tottenham Hotspur, Celtic FC, and Rangers FC, as the latest edition of the FIFA video game franchise release date draws closer.

Premier League club Tottenham has extended an ongoing deal with EA Sports that began in 2018, which will see it continue as Spurs’ official video game partner.

Through the renewed partnership, Tottenham Hotspur Women will feature in FIFA 23 for the first time, as the women’s side of the football game franchise continues to grow.

As part of the agreement, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will also appear in EA Sports’ Madden NFL franchise, as the 63,000-capacity stadium continues as the home of the NFL London Games.

Todd Kline, Chief Commercial Officer for Tottenham Hotspur, said, “The extension to our partnership with EA SPORTS demonstrates the success of the relationship between two organisations built on innovation. We look forward to working with EA SPORTS for future developments and the inclusion of Tottenham Hotspur Women in FIFA 23.”

“We’re delighted to have renewed our agreement with Spurs,” said James Salmon, Marketing Director, EA SPORTS FIFA. “We’ve pushed boundaries through our partnership, including the integration of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in both EA SPORTS FIFA and EA SPORTS Madden NFL and we’re looking forward to continuing to create compelling interactive experiences together in the years ahead.”

The deal EA Sports has struck with Rangers FC is a new partnership, with the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) team announcing EA Sports as its new official video game partner.

EA Sports will have an enhanced presence within the club’s 50,000-capacity Ibrox Stadium and will work on creating content pieces that can be seen across Rangers’ digital and social media platforms. It will also unveil several esports initiatives in the coming months, including international events and matchday activities.

Rangers’ Commercial and Marketing Director, James Bisgrove, commented, “This is a truly exciting partnership for the club, and I think it speaks volumes for the standing Rangers has on the international stage that such a recognisable brand like EA SPORTS FIFA were so eager to enter into a partnership with the club.

“The world of esports is growing at unprecedented levels, and this partnership will allow us to fully enter this space with a meaningful strategy and strong partner in the sector.”

A deal has also been confirmed with Rangers’ Glasgow rivals, Celtic FC. The new four-year partnership means EA SPORTS will become the exclusive official video game partner of the Scottish Premiership champions.

Similar, to its deal with Rangers, EA Sports will work closely with the club to create fan content.

Celtic’s Commercial Director, Adrian Filby, said, “We are delighted to announce this fantastic long-term partnership with EA SPORTS, the leading organisation in its field.

“Celtic’s reach is truly global, and we are pleased to be partnering with an organisation of such profile and quality, known globally as a true market leader.

“We know that thousands of our fans have a great affinity with EA Sports and FIFA 23 already. We are sure this new partnership will be hugely beneficial for the club and our supporters.”
