England Rugby has confirmed a landmark partnership with Defender, naming the iconic automotive brand its Official Vehicle Partner.

Defender brings with it a rich heritage in the sport, with more than 25 years of investment and involvement across rugby at all levels, including its ongoing support of Premiership Rugby. The brand will also serve as the Principal Partner for the Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025, where it is giving 64 young fans the opportunity to serve as mascots at fixtures throughout the tournament.

As part of its Trailblazer campaign, first launched in 2023, Defender will continue to promote its Embrace The Impossible ethos, celebrating individuals who embody the determination and resilience that rugby represents.

Bill Sweeney, CEO of the Rugby Football Union (RFU), welcomed the partnership by saying “Our new partnership with Defender is a landmark association with one of the most trusted and known brands in the UK. Their longstanding commitment and values of resilience and empowerment makes them a perfect partner in our mission to strengthen all levels of men’s and women’s rugby in England. Defender’s exceptional efforts and continued investment in rugby has been instrumental in the progression of our sport and we look forward to building a strong relationship in the years to come.”

Amy Gibson, Brand Director for Defender UK, said the brand’s values aligned closely with those of the game. “Defender is proud to become the Official Vehicle Partner of England Rugby. With a legacy of resilience and purpose, we see rugby as a natural reflection of our values. This partnership is more than sponsorship, it’s a shared journey to champion the spirit of the game and support the communities and individuals who make it extraordinary. From grassroots to elite level, Defender is committed to driving progress and celebrating those who embrace the impossible.”

The partnership further strengthens Defender’s long-term ties with rugby and highlights its commitment to supporting the sport’s growth, from grassroots initiatives to the international stage.
