The Olympic Games has dominated the sporting agenda this weekend with Peaty, Murray and Woods all in action and having reason to celebrate…

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games officially kicked off this weekend with the opening ceremony taking place with thousands of athletes sailing along the River Seine.

Swapping a stadium for a waterway for the first time to open the “greatest show on Earth”, the near four-hour spectacle culminated in French judo great Teddy Riner and sprinter Marie-Jose Perec lighting a cauldron shaped like a hot air balloon that rose high into the Parisian sky.

There were surprise performances through the ceremony, including a cabaret number from US singer-songwriter Lady Gaga, as well as an emotional return of Canadian icon Celine Dion.

In the latest episode of The Game Plan: Inside The Business of Sport, Dylan and RB previewed this year’s Games.

In the first weekend of the Games, Adam Peaty had to settle for silver in the men’s 100m breaststroke after Italy’s Nicolo Martinenghi beat him by 0.02 seconds.

TikTok and Team GB recently released a new campaign that celebrates discovery on the platform.

Meanwhile, Andy Murray extended his stellar career with a dramatic tie-break win in the men’s tennis doubles alongside Dan Evans, against Japanese opponents Kei Nishikori and Taro Daniel.

Ahead of the Games, Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) and YouTube signed a new content partnership.

Kimberley Woods earned Team GB’s third medal of the Games in spectacular style, with bronze in the canoe slalom.

Back in March, Team GB extended its longstanding partnership with Aldi, which will now run until the end of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.

Outside of the Games, Lewis Hamilton inherited victory in the Belgian Grand Prix after Mercedes team-mate George Russell was disqualified two and a half hours after taking an unlikely win on the track.

Russell pulled off an unusual one-stop strategy and held off Hamilton’s attack in the closing laps.

But after the race his car was found to be 1.5kg underweight, with his team admitting to “a genuine error”.

That saw Hamilton promoted to a victory that had looked likely for much of the race – after he took the lead from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc on the second lap.

Last week, Lewis Hamilton was unveiled as a global brand ambassador for CFI.
