The latest weekend of sport was a story of likely winners and unlikely heroes. While Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City picked up their fourth Premier League title in five years, a south California club professional lit up the US PGA Championship with an incredible hole in one…

Manchester City celebrated a third successive Premier League title triumph with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium.

City were confirmed as champions without even playing after Nottingham Forest defeated challengers Arsenal 1-0 on Saturday, meaning that Pep Guardiola’s side are two games away from an historic treble.

Last week, the club officially lodged its legal challenges against the Premier League’s 115 charges for alleged financial rules breaches.

A resurgent Brooks Koepka held off Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland to claim his third US PGA Championship title at Oak Hill in New York state.

Koepka, 33, carded a three-under 67 to win his fifth major on nine under, two shots clear of Scheffler and Hovland.

Earlier in the year, the PGA Tour has announced two new agreements which aim to ‘enhance monitoring capabilities’ as part of an expanded PGA Tour Integrity Program.

However, the highlight of the day’s golf was south California club professional Michael Block who secured a hole-in-one at the 151-yard par-three 15th.

The 46-year-old was one of 20 club professionals at the championship, but the only one to make the cut, quickly becoming a favourite across the crowds.

Chelsea 2-0 victory over Arsenal took them within touching distance of a fourth successive Women’s Super League title.

Manchester United’s dramatic stoppage-time win over bitter rivals Manchester City later on Sunday ensured the title race will go down to the final weekend, although it remains in Chelsea’s hands.

Unilever became the latest brand to invest in women’s football last week after it agreed a deal with FIFA which will see several of its personal care brands become official sponsors FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023.

America’s Brandon McNulty won stage 15 of the Giro d’Italia by edging a sprint finish with Ireland’s Ben Healy.

Britain’s Geraint Thomas lost the lead to Armirail on stage 14.

The Ineos Grenadiers rider finished in the peloton 21 minutes behind the breakaway on Saturday as Thomas and the main group chose to conserve energy.

Last month, British Cycling agreed two new long-term commercial partnership with travel specialists Sportive Breaks and Destination Sport Travel.

Daniil Medvedev claimed the first clay-court title of his career as he beat Holger Rune in the Italian Open final.
