The Premier League title took another twist, Verstappen won again, the Lionesses drew at Wembley, Saints beat Munster, O’Sullivan was defeated, and the Hardest Geezer arrived in Tunsia. It’s been a busy weekend in sport…

Max Verstappen cruised to a comfortable victory in the Japanese Grand Prix, leading team-mate Sergio Perez to a Red Bull one-two.

Verstappen took an early race stoppage at Suzuka in his stride as he secured his third victory in four races this season.

Red Bull were in a league of their own in a race dominated by tyre strategy.

Carlos Sainz passed team-mate Charles Leclerc late on to secure third as Ferrari used differing strategies.

Last month, Red Bull Racing penned a long-term renewal of its supplier partnership with British sportswear brand Castore.

Liverpool squandered their chance to return to the top the Premier League by drawing 2-2 to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Jurgen Klopp’s men had taken the lead through Luis Diaz before Bruno Fernandes scored a brilliant equaliser at the start of the second half. Kobbie Mainoo then gave United the lead with a brilliant finish in the box.

Liverpool secured a point with a Mohammed Salah penalty, but it was enough to keep them at the Premier League summit.

Last week, Amazon obtained Premier League broadcast rights in Denmark and Sweden through a four-year sublicensing deal with Viaplay.

Liverpool’s Premier League title rivals, Arsenal and Manchester City, did manage all three points this weekend.

Mikel Arteta’s side sealed a comfortable 0-3 win at Brighton while Manchester City defeated Crystal Palace 2-4 at Selhurst Park.

The Premier League has recently announced a new four-year agreement with Rezzil, which includes an equity stake in the Manchester-based virtual reality (VR) software developer.

England’s defence of their European title got off to a disappointing start at Wembley Stadium as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Sweden in their first Euro 2025 qualifier.

Alessia Russo nodded in Lauren James’ clever cross in the first half but Sweden equalised through Fridolina Rolfo later on when she crept in behind Barcelona team-mate Lucy Bronze to head in at the back post.

Last year, Lioness Ella Toone became the first England women’s player to trademark her name with the creation of her own ‘ET7’ brand.

Northampton Saints beat two-time winners Munster in a breathless display of rugby to set up a Champions Cup quarter-final against the Bulls.

James Ramm – in-form after two tries against Saracens last week – crossed first for Saints but Munster wing Sean O’Brien replied swiftly.

Munster’s Mike Haley and Saints’ Tommy Freeman traded tries to level up the scores at half-time.

But George Hendy’s two second-half scores sealed a brilliant Saints win.

Northampton Saints recently named GT Radial as its official tyre partner.

Leeds Rhinos beat Team Bath 67-51 this weekend, securing their first away victory of the Netball Super league Season (NSL).

Saracens Mavericks were beaten by top of the league side Manchester Thunder in the headliner match for the first ever NSL game to be played at OVO Arena, Wembley.

England Netball recently announced new broadcast agreements with the BBC and Sky Sports.

Mark Williams produced a vintage performance to beat Ronnie O’Sullivan 10-5 in the final of the Tour Championship in Manchester.

Williams, who had trailed 5-3, compiled two century breaks and three half-centuries as he reeled off seven consecutive frames to triumph.

Victory secured him a 26th ranking title of his career in front of a capacity crowd.

The Welshman also collects the £150,000 cheque for winning the tournament.

The World Snooker Tour (WST) recently signed a five-year technical partnership with UK-based sportswear brand Castore.

“Hardest Geezer” has finished running the length of Africa after a gruelling challenge that has taken nearly a year.

Russ Cook, from Worthing, West Sussex, was joined by supporters as he crossed the finish line in Ras Angela, Tunisia, the most northern point of the African continent on Sunday.
