An incredible summer of sport in Paris came to a close this weekend with GB finishing second on the medals table. Elsewhere, Jack Draper fell short at the US Open and Aryna Sabalenka finally got her trophy…

Jack Draper believes Grand Slam success is “just a matter of time” after the Briton was defeated by Jannik Sinner in the US Open semi-final.

The 7-5 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 defeat by world number one Sinner in New York was a disappointment for Draper, but reaching the last four was the best run of the 22-year-old’s career at a major.

Draper, who was ranked 123rd in the world during last year’s US Open, will move into the top 20 next week.

Sinner went on to defeat American Taylor Fritz 6-3 6-4 7-5 in the final on Sunday.

It was recently reported that a merger between tennis’ ATP and WTA tours could be finalised ‘in the early to mid-way point’ of 2025.

As the Paralympics came to a close this weekend, GB’s 215-strong squad finished second in the medal table behind China with 124 medals (49 golds, 44 silvers and 31 bronzes) – comfortably achieving the UK Sport target of 100-140.

Live coverage of the summer Games was aired on Youtube.

Britain’s Charlotte Henshaw and Laura Sugar both retained their Paralympic titles in impressive style as the Para-canoe events reached their climax in Paris.

Former swimmer Henshaw claimed her second Paris title as she held on to her kayak KL2 crown ahead of team-mate Emma Wiggs at a blustery Vaires-sur-Marne.

Sugar, a former sprinter, added to the GB gold medal haul as she secured back-to-back KL3 titles with fellow Briton Hope Gordon fifth.

Channel 4’s coverage of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games has reached 17.4 million viewers across linear and digital channels, marking a 4% increase on Tokyo 2020.

Stephen Clegg dedicated his second gold medal of the 2024 Paralympics to his mum after triumphing in a tightly-contested men’s S12 100m butterfly final.

Clegg, the world record holder in the event, was pushed all the way to the line but touched home first in 57.49 seconds.

Alfie Hewett was unable to complete a career ‘Golden Slam’ in singles, failing to convert a gold-medal point as he lost a thrilling Paralympic wheelchair tennis men’s singles final.

The 26-year-old was beaten 6-2 4-6 7-5 by Japan’s Tokito Oda at Roland Garros.

However, Hewett, won his men’s doubles final with Gordon Reid on Friday – having lost three Paralympic finals across the previous two Games in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo.

Earlier this year, Channel 4 has announced new partnerships with Allianz and Toyota.

Aryna Sabalenka won her first US Open title as she put the disappointment of last year’s final behind her to hold off home hope Jessica Pegula with a 7-5 7-5 win.

It is a third Grand Slam singles trophy for Sabalenka after she successfully defended her Australian Open title in January.

The ATP Tour recently agreed a new global partnership with Australian online foreign exchange and payments company OFX.

England’s men’s national team defeated Ireland 0-2 in Dublin.

Declan Rice and Jack Grealish, who have both played for Ireland at various age levels before switching to England, both got on the scoresheet.

The FA recently expanded its partnership with global digital sports platform Fanatics.

Jamie Smith’s pulsating 67 breathed life into England but could not stop Sri Lanka moving into pole position to win the final Test at The Oval.

Needing 219, the tourists ended the third day on 94-1 from only 15 overs, 125 runs short of a famous win.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) recently opened the process to secure private investment in The Hundred, the national cricket body has announced.
