Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has agreed to purchase a 49% stake in The Hundred franchise Trent Rockets through Cain International, valuing the team at £79m.
Cain International, Co-Founded by Boehly and British businessman Jonathan Goldstein, has agreed to pay just under £40m for the stake.
Nottinghamshire Cricket club meanwhile, which hosts Trent Rockets at Trent Bridge, will retain control of the remaining 51%.
The sale has contributed to total investments in seven of the eight Hundred teams surpassing £500m, with the combined valuation of all franchises reaching approximately £820m.
Southern Brave is expected to be the final team sold later this week, with Delhi Capitals’ co-owners emerging as likely buyers.
Boehly, who led the £4.25 bn takeover of Chelsea in 2022, also has ownership stakes in World Series champions the Los Angeles Dodgers through Eldridge Industries.
According to reports, Cain International had previously been in contention for a share of London Spirit before a 49% stake in the franchise was acquired by a Silicon Valley consortium for £145m.

Other recent Hundred franchise sales have included Oval Invincibles, with Surrey selling a 49% stake to the owners of Mumbai Indians for £60 million, and Birmingham Phoenix, with Warwickshire securing a £40 million deal with Birmingham City FC’s owners, Knighthead Capital.
Welsh Fire, London Spirit, Manchester Originals, and Northern Superchargers have also seen partial or full ownership changes.
Funds raised from these sales have been allocated to the 18 first-class counties, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), and the grassroots game. All deals have now entered an eight-week exclusivity period to finalise agreements.
