An incredible summer Games in Paris reached its finale last night with its closing ceremony. Elsewhere, the EFL returned, The Hundred continued and Rees-Zammit made his NFL debut…

The 33rd Olympic Games officially came to an end with the Paris 2024 closing ceremony taking place on Sunday night.

Actor Tom Cruise descended from the roof of Stade de France to collect the Olympic flag as part of the handover to the American city of Los Angeles, which will host the next Games in 2028, before departing on a motorcycle.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre then performed on Venice Beach as part of a star-studded music set to conclude the ceremony.

Earlier, inside the stadium in Paris, gold medallists Alex Yee and Bryony Page were Great Britain’s flagbearers at the ceremony.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Deloitte have announced an expansion of their Worldwide Olympic Partnership.

Before the Games officially ended, 21-year-old track cycling sensation Emma Finucane made British Olympic history by winning individual sprint bronze for her third medal of the Paris Games.

Not since 1964, when Mary Rand won a medal of every colour in athletics, has a British woman taken a hat-trick of podium finishes at a single Games.

Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) and YouTube signed a new content partnership ahead of the Games.

Then, Emily Campbell claimed Great Britain’s final medal of the Paris Olympics with bronze in the women’s +81kg weightlifting.

Team GB leave Paris with 65 medals, one more than they won in Tokyo three years ago, when Campbell took +87kg silver.

Earlier this year, Team GB extended its longstanding partnership with Aldi, which will now run until the end of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.

Brenden Aaronson rescued a dramatic late opening-day point for Leeds United as they were pushed to the wire by Championship newcomers Portsmouth.

The 3-3 draw at Elland Road kicked off this year’s EFL Championship season in style, with Leeds considered one of the favourites to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Earlier this year, Leeds United unveiled Red Bull as its new front of shirt and energy drink partner, in a deal that also includes investment in the club.

Former Welsh rugby union international Louis Rees-Zammit made his debut for reigning Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs.

The former Wales wing featured in the Chiefs’ pre-season friendly defeat by Jacksonville Jaguars.

Rees-Zammit performed as running back, kicker and kick-returner during Saturday’s match, in addition to being part of the punt coverage team.

Earlier this year, we took a closer look at the IPP programme that kicked off Ress-Zammit’s NFL career.

Nicholas Pooran blasted an unbeaten 66 as Northern Superchargers beat Manchester Originals in a high-scoring men’s Hundred thriller at Old Trafford.

Chasing 153 to win, Superchargers swiftly lost England captain Ben Stokes to a potentially serious hamstring injury and started slowly before Pooran and skipper Harry Brook took charge with excellent performances on the bat.

The Hundred named BKT Tyres as a new partner ahead of the 2024 season.

Manchester City avenged their FA Cup final defeat by Manchester United as Pep Guardiola’s side triumphed 7-6 on penalties after the Community Shield had finished 1-1 at Wembley.

Manchester City and Betway recently entered a multi-year agreement which designates the gambling brand as the club’s global betting partner.
