HAYES RETURNS

England were held to a goalless draw by Olympic champions the United States as Sarina Wiegman and Emma Hayes went head-to-head at Wembley Stadium.
Former Chelsea boss Hayes was returning to London for the first time as USA head coach and was matched tactically by Wiegman in a game of few clear-cut chances.
The FA recently expanded its partnership with global digital sports platform Fanatics.
JUDD TRUMPS HAWKINS
In snooker, Judd Trump claimed his second UK Championship title with a hard-fought 10-8 victory over Barry Hawkins at the Barbican in York.
Only Ronnie O’Sullivan, Stephen Hendry and John Higgins have won more than the 35-year-old’s tally of 30 ranking titles.
Trump had to endure a stirring fightback from Hawkins, who fought back from 9-6 to 9-8 and almost got the two snookers he required in a dramatic 18th frame to force a decider.

SLOT BALL ROLLS ON

Liverpool strengthened their position in the Premier League title race with a 2-0 victory over champions Manchester City at Anfield.
Eight points ahead of City before the game, the match was a huge opportunity to pull further away from Pep Guardiola’s struggling side.
The Reds dominated the game’s early stages, with Cody Gakpo putting them ahead before a Mohammed Salah penalty secured the points after the break.
Liverpool are now nine points clear at the top of the Premier League.
CONTROVERSY IN QATAR

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won a dramatic Qatar Grand Prix that was brought to life by two mid-race safety cars and a penalty for McLaren’s Lando Norris.
Verstappen was in a tight fight with Norris throughout the race until the Briton was given a 10-second stop-and-go penalty for failing to slow for yellow flags.
The Dutchman was instrumental in getting Norris the penalty after pointing the incident out to his team.
ENGLISH DOMINANCE
England secured a dominant clean sweep in the three-match T20 series against South Africa with a nine-wicket win in Centurion.
The tourists raced to their below-par target of 125 with 51 balls to spare, opener Danni Wyatt-Hodge finishing unbeaten on 53 and Sophia Dunkley making 24 not out.
