The live sport and on-demand streaming service DAZN has announced it’s to occupy a brand new purpose-built office facility in Leeds, the latest step in its rapid global expansion.

The significant investment arrives in a year that will see DAZN launch in Spain and Brazil.

The OTT platform is currently available in seven nations, the U.S., Canada, Japan, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy.

One of the fastest growing sports media companies, DAZN, headquartered in London, employed more than 750 staff in the UK alone within the last 12 months and currently employs almost 3,000 staff in over 30 countries.

The new facility, located in Leeds’ White Rose Office Park, will have the capacity to cater for 350 staff and enhances the city’s growing reputation as “one of the UK’s most influential media hubs.” DAZN will join national and global businesses O2, HMRC and HSBC in the vicinity.

DAZN Group’s editorial, product and design teams already based in Leeds are to be among the first teams in the firm to relocate to the bespoke 40,000 sq ft office space. The staff will transition over at the end of January, having outgrown its city centre location.

The media centre will house employees from across the company’s consumer brands, which includes not only DAZN, but also sports website Goal.

Commenting on the expansion, Neil Colligan, DAZN Group Chief Operations Officer, said: “The new office in Leeds is an important milestone in DAZN Group’s journey to become the world’s biggest digital sport media business, with the best sports streaming product in the market.

“Our new home at the White Rose Office Park will provide us with the space and facilities to continue to expand our global footprint, whilst investing in Leeds as one of the UK’s most influential media hubs.”

News of the expansion comes amid reports from the DWDL.de website that DAZN have submitted an application for a broadcasting license to German regulator Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg (mabb).

The move is said to have been made to address the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Britain’s exit from the European Union. In the event of Brexit, the current license DAZN holds from UK regulator Ofcom, would lose its validity outside of the UK.
