London 2012 and Peace One Day have collaborated to offer young people the chance to have their films shown at the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.?
Young people have been urged by actors and filmmakers Jude Law and Jeremy Gilley to make short films inspired by the theme of ‘Truce’ for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad film competition ‘Film Nation:Shorts’.
In partnership with Panasonic and with funding from the National Lottery, the Cultural Olympiad project Film Nation:Shorts launched in March 2010 and invites 14-25 year olds to create short films that celebrate the values of the Olympic and Paralympic Games: respect, courage, excellence, friendship, equality, determination and inspiration.
Peace One Day founder Jeremy Gilley and ambassador Jude Law have teamed up with London 2012 to launch a new strand to the competition, where young people are encouraged to make short films inspired by the theme of ‘Truce’.
The competition is the start of a collaboration between the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad and Peace One Day, and more details on further initiatives will be announced in 2011.
Submissions for this year’s Film Nation:Shorts awards are open until 1st October 2010 and the competition culminates in a special national award ceremony each year, with the first ceremony in December 2010.
The Film Nation:Shorts competition will be run each year until 2012 with the ‘Truce’ theme opening in October 2010 for the second round of the competition.
