EDF Energy is set to expand its presence during the London 2012 Olympics with an £8m deal to sponsor the iconic London Eye for the next three years.
Already a sponsor of the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, EDF Energy secured the deal with London Eye owners Merlin Entertainments for the naming rights to the big wheel.
Also, as part of the deal London Eye will take its electricity from EDF as it will now be named the EDF Energy London Eye.
When the wheel launched in 1999 the title sponsor was British Airways’ – but the company cancelled the deal back in 2008.
EDF Energy is a Tier One London 2012 sponsor as the official sustainability partner to the Games.
