Absolute Radio has put forth a proposal to Lord Seb Coe and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport that could see 700,000 real Britons feature at the centre of the London 2012 Olympics by having their Facebook profile picture printed onto the fabric curtain wrap of the iconic Olympic stadium.??
The national radio station has submitted plans to the Olympic organising committee to save the £7m 20 metre high and 0.9km Olympic wrap, which has recently been abandoned as part of the Government spending review.??
The proposals would mean 700,000 Britons could enter a competition to have their face featured on the fabric using their Facebook profile picture so they become a physical part of the legacy of the 2012 Olympics throughout the games.
??Each photo would be 19cm high by 13cm wide (the same size as a DVD case) and would be submitted using a Facebook application built by Absolute Radio and developers, Betapond.??
Participation would cost £10 each as part of this open-sourcing solution mobilising the power of the Facebook platform, payable only by those whose faces are featured in the Olympic wrap.
