Aggreko has been awarded the £37m energy supplier contract for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The firm stated that it had also been signed up as a sponsor for the Games after securing the power deal from the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG).
Aggreko’s contract follows its work on the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, which saw the group deliver 259 generators and chillers, 525 kilometres of cable and more than 1,200 distribution panels to 11 football sites. Aggreko also played a key role at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Under the terms of the partnership deal with the London 2012 Games, the company will provide more than 1,000 kilometres of cable equipment to power competition venue lighting and camera equipment across 39 sites.
