Designed to recognise and reward the best sport and development projects from across the world on an annual basis, the Beyond Sport Awards, this year set for London just a week before the Olympic Games, are now open for entries.
The winners of the six Community Awards will each receive a package of funding as well as the Business Support Package, which includes millions of dollars worth of strategic consultancy, marketing and advertising support, preferential rates on sports pitches/courts, and more.
Last year, The Philadelphia Eagles Football Club was awarded the coveted prize of Sport Team of the Year after its help to establish an award winning charity – Eagles Youth Partnership, while the Australian Football League walked away with Sports Federation or Governing Body of the Year for its work with Indigenous communities.
Sony took away the Corporate of the Year Award, which gave them a global spotlight and a full-page advert in FORTUNE Magazine to showcase their CSR efforts.
Any business, team, or federation looking to be recognized for the work they do in the community is encouraged to enter their organisation’s entire body of work.
A shortlist of entries in each of the Awards categories will be revealed in April with representatives from those initiatives supported to attend the Beyond Sport Summit in London July 22-25, where the winners will be unveiled.
The deadline for submissions is 6th April.
The winners are selected by the Beyond Sport Ambassadors – a group of high-profile individuals chaired by former British Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Tony Blair, and who also include HRH Prince Faisal Al Hussein of Jordan, former South African football captain Lucas Radebe; and multi-Olympic gold medalists Michael Johnson and Sergey Bubka.
The Beyond Sport effect can be felt all around the world, from the construction of Ebony Horse Club in the heart of Brixton, to the first all-weather, multi-purpose sport surface in Tanzania.
