Aon, the global provider of risk management and human capital solutions, has become title sponsor of the forthcoming PSA World Tour tournament, taking place from 2nd-6th September, in Chicago.
The Aon US Open is the first major tournament of the new season and will be staged in the open air inside the McWil glass court which will be set up in Pioneer Court, between Tribune Tower and the Chicago River.
The Aon US Open is a PSA Five Star tournament offering a prize fund of $52,500 and has attracted a draw featuring two Egyptians – with four World Open titles between them – as the top two seeds.
Chicago is building a growing reputation as a host of major sports events as one of four cities bidding to host the 2016 Olympics.
The city is also the host of the Beyond Sport Summit and Awards in 2010, the initiative that looks to celebrate and promote any individual or group with the goal to drive positive social change through sport.
Aon recently signed a contract to take over the shirt sponsorship of Manchester United from previous backers AIG in a deal worth £80m over four years.
Squash looks to have missed out on its aim to become an Olympic sport in 2016 after the IOC Evaluation Committee recommended that rugby sevens and golf be the two new sports added to the Games in 7 years’ time.
