Japanese sports brand Asics is planning a major push into the global market
through the launch of its first worldwide integrated marketing campaign and has
appointed Amsterdam-based agency Woedend! to handle the activity.
The worldwide campaign, scheduled to break in January next year, will consist
of TV, outdoor, print and online activity as Asics attempts to challenge the
leading brands in the market such as Nike and adidas.
Woedend!, which is already working on Asics’ pan-European product campaign
for the Performance shoe range, beat off two other agencies to win the global
account.
Ascis’ existing agencies in the US and Asia will in future adapt global
creative to their markets and will continue to create product campaigns for
Asics’ performance business in those ranges.
Asics is currently the world’s ninth largest sports goods brand, though its
running shoes rank first or second in a number of markets around the world.
