Rugby World Cup winner Ben Cohen, has announced his foundation The Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation will host its first conference bringing together academics, practitioners, charities, community organisations, ‘not-for-profits’ and policy-makers to share evidence and insight into tackling bullying.
The one-day event takes place on Monday 12th November 2018 at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations.
Attendees will have access to current thinking and research, and engage in panel discussions focussed on bullying in sport, including homophobic & transphobic bullying, sexual bullying, mental health and disability bullying.
The aim of the day-long conference is to obtain a clear picture of bullying throughout the UK; to share experiences, foster collaboration and devise practical solutions.
2003 World Cup Rugby winner and founder of the StandUp Foundation, Ben Cohen, said: “During Anti-Bullying Week and grounded in a foundation of respect, the event provides a unique opportunity for experts from all sectors to collaborate, inform and improve anti-bullying research and practice.
“Bullying is an area where there is much excellent research and much excellent practice, but research and practice do not always liaise and communicate with each other to maximum effect.”
The Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation is the world’s first foundation dedicated to raising awareness of the long-term, damaging effects of bullying by connecting communities and raising funds to support those doing real-world work to eradicate bullying.
