Thomas Lyte has shown its support to Beyond Sport by designing and hand-crafting the awards in their London workshop, located in the shadows of London 2012’s Olympic Stadium.

The English luxury lifestyle brand specialises in fine leather goods and exquisite silverware and boasts London’s largest silversmith atelier, where designers and master-craft teams develop, create and restore many of the sporting world’s most celebrated trophies.

Each award was hand-crafted by Master Silversmith Kevin Williams – who is also responsible for the restoration of iconic pieces such as the FA Cup and The Webb Ellis Rugby World Cup – from a single sheet of silver ‘mesh’ similar in design to that of the Olympic Torch, decorated with a silver plaque engraved with the London sky line.

Kevin spoke to Sport Industry TV during the creation of the unique trophies about the process of each Award. Check out the ‘making of’ here.

Lord Seb Coe and Sir Keith Mills were the first to lift a 2012 award at a private function at Thomas Lyte’s Mayfair store to launch the 2012 summit, a fitting tribute that will match the sense of value and pride that will bring the world together through sport in the coming weeks.
