Birmingham is to host a major international gymnastics event only one year prior
to London staging the 2012 Olympics.
Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena will host the 2011 World Championships in
Trampoline, Tumbling and Double-Mini Trampoline.
The competition is crucial for the trampolinists as it also serves as their
qualifying tournament for the 2012 Olympics.
The event will be held over three days and is expected to involve around 650
athletes from 40 countries.
British Gymnastics and Birmingham City Council have formed a successful
partnership in recent years by jointly staging the World Cup Finals in Artistic
Gymnastics in 2004 and in Trampoline and Tumbling in 2006.
