British Olympic Association chairman Colin Moynihan will have to stand down in 2017 after passing a new rule that limits the holding of the position to 12 years.??

Moynihan was elected in 2005, replacing Sir Craig Reedie, shortly after London were awarded the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.??Moynihan says the decision means: ‘Transparency, it means accountability, it means elections, it means responsible autonomy.’??

‘I think you need to have term limits – you need to be able to refresh the organisation,’ he added.??

The decision means that members of the BOA board will also have a limited term, as well as being more scrutinised in their role.

??’We are going to undertake evaluations of all the Board members, including the chairman,’ added Moynihan.

??The elections for the sport representatives to the BOA Board are now set to take place every two years, instead of four.?
