Olympic triathletes Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee, who won gold and bronze medals at the London 2012 Olympic Games, have signed four-year partnership deals with English wetsuit company Huub.

The deal will see the Derby-based company provide the British pair with training and competition wetsuits until 2016.

Huub chief executive Dean Jackson said: ‘As a young company based in the midlands we feel honoured and privileged to be associated with Alistair and Jonathan. For Huub to be standing shoulder to shoulder with Olympic medallists – and one of them an Olympic champion – is unbelievable. To say I’m delighted with this partnership would be an understatement! This is an incredibly proud day for all of us.’

The deal comes at a positive time for the sport in the country, after the ITU World Triathlon Series announced record viewing figures for 2012.

Participation figures are also believed to be on the rise, with campaigns such as Triathlon England’s ‘Triathlon Live’ capitalizing on the interest generated by the brothers.

Gold medallist Alistair added: ‘I am looking forward to working with Huub over the next four years. Since I started triathlon, I have always known that you have to have a top wetsuit. I choose Huub because they spend a lot of time researching how to help make me faster in the water. The new suit feels great and I’m looking forward to racing in it this year. It’s just a shame they’ve given Jonny one as well!’

The financial details of the deals were not released.
