Cadbury’s is the latest brand to be linked with signing a domestic sponsorship deal with the London 2012 Olympics.
Media speculation has quoted the confectionery brand as being in lengthy negotiations with 2012 organising committee LOCOG although it is unclear whether Cadbury’s is looking at a tier one partnership or a secondary sponsorship level contract.
LOCOG has already signed up seven tier one partners in the form of adidas, British Airways, BP, BT, EDF Energy, LloydsTSB and Nortel as well as one tier two sponsor in the form of Deloitte.
It is believed that a tier one sponsorship is valued at around £80m although many of the deals already signed have contained value-in-kind elements.
LOCOG can sell sponsorship in categories already covered by the International Olympic Committee’s TOP global partners which include McDonald’s, Coca-Cola and Samsung.
