Global delivery company DHL is on the verge of signing up as a TOP partner with the International Olympic Committee – the top level of sponsorship association with the Olympics.

The deal on the table is believed to cover the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver and London 2012 and will see DHL installed as the official logistics partner of the Olympic Games.

Should DHL sign up it would join McDonald’s, Visa, Coca-Cola, Panasonic, Samsung, Omega, General Electric and Atos Origin as confirmed TOP partners for London 2012.

The IOC aims to have between 10 and 12 brands on its TOP programme for each Olympics but was recently rocked by the news that long-standing partner Kodak would not be renewing its deal after the Beijing Games next year.

DHL is already a sponsor of the Special Olympics having signed a three-year deal in June of this year.
