Epilepsy Fears Over London 2012 Film

The new London 2012 branding has continued to create negative press after it
emerged that a segment of the accompanying promotional film could trigger
epileptic seizures among viewers.

Charity Epilepsy Action said it had received calls from people who had
suffered fits after seeing it and that the images could affect the 23,000 people
in the UK who have photosensitive epilepsy.

The section of footage concerned showed a ‘diver diving into a pool which had
a multi-colour ripple effect’.

The London 2012 organising committee responded immediately that it would
re-edit the film to take out the offending segment but was at pains to point out
that the health concerns were in no way related to the logo itself and were
purely regarding an element of the promotional film.

Until the re-edit has been done, the film will not be shown again and has
been pulled from the London 2012 website.

The new logo for the event, which is a jagged emblem based on the date 2012,
was unveiled on Monday.
