First Speakers Announced For Beyond Sport ’14

Beyond Sport has announced the first phase of speakers set to attend the Beyond Sport Summit & Awards, taking place in Johannesburg from from 28th to 30th October.

Following on from London in 2012, and Philadelphia in 2013, the event will convene the leading figures in the worlds of sport, business, government and community development to promote, support and develop the use of sport as a tool for social change.

At venues across the city, this year’s Global Summit & Awards will include community project visits showcasing the different ways in which sport can be used to address a range of social issues.; a day of interactive sessions at the Nike Centre in Soweto on employability and financial literacy, safeguarding of children in sport, urban communities, health, accessibility and inclusion, and more. 

The final day of the event will take the focus back to youth leadership and the role of sport in unlocking the passion and creativity of the next generation.

This year’s confirmed speakers include:

  • David Grevemberg – CEO, Glasgow 2014, and incoming CEO, Commonwealth Games Federation
  • Lucas Radebe – Former South African Football Captain
  • Baroness Amos – UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs
  • Ryan Sandes – South African Ultra-Trail Runner
  • Ella Robertson – Host City Bid Director, One Young World
  • Grant Lottering – Miraculous International Road Racing & Endurance Cyclist

Alongside these speakers, Beyond Sport will also have some of the most influential representatives from the world of business, sport and philanthropy in the room, including: 

Barclays, UNICEF, Kaizer Chiefs, streetfootballworld, Comic Relief, Toronto Blue Jays, UK Sport, NBA, Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants, Tottenham Hotspur, Connor Sport Court, Fulham FC, Premiership Rugby and NCAA.
